Thinstations configuration can be a bit daunting initially but once you get the hang of it, it mostly makes sense.

Please send me your comments or questions.

Hey,
Just a quick question, maybe you will be able to help me.

Im building the ISO from a linux machine, but to me is uncertain where to put this conf file. Do I need to put it in the root level of the thinstation folder? eg. the same level as the build script is?

Hello Maritoxs,

I have just checked on our Linux build machine and you do have to put both conf files ('build.conf' and 'thinstation.conf.buildtime'
).

Sample conf files should already be in the top level of the thinstation folder.

Hope this helps

Hello Sony,

Great to hear from you. Thank you so much.

The issue is more related to the thinstation.conf.user

in .conf.buildtime you have the option to say on which partition the profile is gonna be. But my plan is to install this onto a usb stick or a hdd, and deploy it on dozens of computers, however i dont wanna create different iso' s for all the different partition' s name: e.g. /dev/sda /dev/hda .

Is there anyway to copy the conf.user file to the root of the iso and use it from there?

Hello Maritoxs,

I am not sure how to accomplish what you require but i would suggest that you go down the route of PXE booting if you are deploying to many computers. This will save on discs, make config changes much easier and also get around the partition issue.

We have one image that works on 99.9% of all clients that boot through PXE boot.

I originally thought that setting up a PXE boot server was quite scary but in the end it was quite straight forward.

I am in the process of writing a complete Thinstation / PXE boot tutorial so watch this space for further details.

Hope this helps

Hi folks, need badly your assistance. I managed to startup a VM from thinstation devimage but dont know how to proceed (literally). My goal is to starup via CDROM (for now) however, i am really lost on the documentation via Thinstation website.

I am really hoping someone can provide me some instructions (idiot proof will do :)).

Thank you.
